Additional Notes
The Mediation Session estimate of $750-$1,000 is based on a single session lasting 3-4 hours, which is our average session length. If you have multiple sessions, your cost could be higher.
The fee for preparing final documents is paid directly to the Licensed Paralegal Practitioner (LPP) we refer you to. If you would like to use a different LPP or attorney to prepare your final documents, they may have a different fee arrangement.
The Court Filing Fee is paid directly to the Courts, or else to the LPP who then pays the Courts on your behalf.
If you involve other professionals in your divorce, such as attorneys, therapists, or financial professionals, they must each be paid separately.
Parties who use mediation to complete their divorces typically spend about $1,750-$2,000, total. This includes mediation, drafting your agreement, and finalizing the agreement with the Courts.
If you require additional mediation sessions, you can book more time with your mediator at the end of your first session.
Yes. All parties pay a deposit of $250 each (or $500 combined). This deposit covers the first 2 hours of mediation. If the session lasts longer than 2 hours, the remainder will be billed at the end.
Yes. If you cancel your appointment with at least two week's notice, your entire deposit will be refunded. If you cancel with at least one week's notice, half of your deposit will be refunded. If you cancel with less than one week's notice, the deposit will not be refunded.
Yes. Depending on your income level, you may qualify for a waiver of the Court's filing fees. You can visit the Utah Court website for more information.
The process of mediation allows you to skip many of the steps required in a traditional divorce, such as serving a petition to the other side, doing formal discovery, and holding a trial. Because the process of mediation has relatively few steps and is much less time consuming, the cost is significantly lower.
