Legal Information

The Utah Divorce Clinic is Utah LLC providing mediation and divorce consulting services.  We are not a law firm. Our services are intended to help parties explore possible solutions to their conflicts, which can include conflicts with a significant legal component, such as divorce. However, we do not represent clients in a legal capacity or take charge of their Court cases.

In the event that parties reach an agreement during mediation or with the assistance of our consulting, our trained mediators may assist in drafting a "Stipulation" (agreement) that reflects the terms agreed upon. However, by assisting with drafting, the mediator does not become legal counsel for either of the parties. Additionally, before signing any such agreement, the parties are encouraged to counsel with an independent attorney of their choosing.

If the parties ultimately sign an agreement, one of our in house attorney-mediators may then file the agreement with the Courts. In this scenario, the attorney-mediator would be filing as an "Attorney-Mediator for the Parties" under Utah Code of Judicial Administration 3-2.4(c). However, we wish to emphasize that in the case the attorney-mediator is still not representing either party as a legal counselor.

The Utah Divorce Clinic strives to act in compliance with all laws governing mediators, as well as the Utah Mediation Best Practices Guide and the AFCC Model Standards of Practice for Family and Divorce Mediation.

When it comes to divorce, you have options.

1. Do It Yourself (DIY)

If you and your spouse already agree on all the terms of your divorce, you may not need to hire attorney or appear in court. Using our DIY Divorce Guide, you can navigate the terms of your divorce on your own. When you're finished, one of our team members can help you prepare the necessary paperwork and submit it to the Courts.
